Axinite is an interesting mineral and produces unique flattened spatula shaped crystals that fanciers of well formed crystals love to collect.
Axinite is a brown to violet-brown, or reddish-brown bladed mineral composed of calcium aluminium boro-silicate, (Ca,Fe,Mn)3Al2BO3Si4O12OH. Axinite is pyroelecric and piezoelectric. The hardness of the stone is 6.5 to 7 making it admirably suitable for the use of jewelery. |
